Why is it worth changing to a bicycle? Cycling is good for everything! Definitely yes! Cycling has many advantages: we care about ourselves and the environment, and we are trendy because it is not only a popular way of recreation but also an everyday means of communication.
YOU TRAIN YOUR MUSCLES
All the largest muscle groups in the legs work when pedaling. We shape the thighs, buttocks, and calves. However, remember that cycling will not excessively expand your legs! This is mainly the case of women who think that too elaborate thighs and calves will look less feminine. Cycling will make your muscles stronger, stronger, and more enduring. However, not only the leg muscles, but we also strengthen the abdominal, back, and forearm muscles while cycling.
YOU INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF THE ORGANISM
Body endurance is the ability to exercise without obvious signs of fatigue. Cycling is an aerobic exercise that improves performance by increasing the body’s ability to absorb oxygen – VO2max. It must be remembered that with age, and also due to the lack of physical activity, this absorption decreases, thus making everyday activities more difficult, e.g. climbing stairs.
YOU REDUCE THE RISK OF CIRCULATORY DISEASES
Cycling makes your heart work better! Its stroke volume and minute capacity increase, which reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases: atherosclerosis, infarction, and stroke. Regular use of a bicycle will also lower your resting heart rate and reduce the risk of dying from a heart attack by 82%! Pedaling and the continuous activity of the legs increase the blood flow in the calves which prevents blood clots in the veins and also prevents varicose veins.
YOU ARE ON A DIET
If physical activity is also of course weight loss. This is undoubtedly a huge advantage of cycling. Already during a one-hour leisurely ride, driving 15km / h, we will burn about 300kcal, but by increasing the speed to 20km / h, we can burn 600kcal. This is a great way to lose weight, but also to get rid of cellulite. Regular use of the bike allows you to reduce the fat tissue on the thighs, hips, and abdomen.
YOU IMPROVE IMMUNITY
The great health benefit of cycling is also hardening the body. The resistance to various types of infections increases, and we will go through colds and flu more quickly and less painfully.
YOU STRENGTHEN YOUR BONES
Cycling reduces the risk of osteoporosis, a disease of the skeletal system that occurs most frequently in postmenopausal women.
YOU PROTECT YOUR JOINTS
We do not put stress on the joints when cycling. Even during intensive driving, the loads are several times smaller than in moderate gears. That is why cycling is a safe form of physical activity.
YOU INCREASE THE PRODUCTION OF HORMONES OF HAPPINESS
Cycling in the fresh air oxygenates the brain and our body begins to release endorphins, i.e. happiness hormones. It makes us feel better, our brain works better, we work more efficiently and we are able to remember more. That’s why it’s worth cycling to work or taking a short break from your studies.
YOU WILL REMOVE YOURSELF
… And returning from work by bicycle is a great way to de-stress after a hard day. Bicycle tours allow you to forget about everyday duties and relax.
YOU’RE IMPROVING SKIN HEALTH
Regular exercise on a bicycle also improves the health of the skin, which oxygenates and improves its blood supply. This results in smoothing and a youthful and healthy appearance.
YOU IMPROVE EYE HEALTH
Riding a bicycle in the open air, we give our eyes a break from computer screens, telephones, and TV sets. The eyes regenerate and your eyesight will sharpen and improve.
YOU LOWER BAD CHOLESTEROL
Regular cycling in the case of high cholesterol helps in two ways – it lowers the level of triglycerides, which in large amounts contribute to the development of coronary disease, and increases the amount of good cholesterol in the body. The consistency and regularity of cycling lower triglycerides by up to 30-40% and raise healthy cholesterol by about 5-8 mg / dL.
YOU’RE BACK TO HEALTH
Cycling is an excellent form of recovery from various types of injuries. Due to the fact that it strengthens the muscles and at the same time does not burden the joints, it is a recommended form of rehabilitation.
YOU SAVE MONEY
When commuting to work by bike, we save money that we would spend on fuel or public transport tickets. When we commute 10 km to work, we can save up to $70.67 a month! By adding shopping or cycling to visit interesting places, we save another several dozen zlotys.
YOU CARE ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT
When getting on the bike, we do not start the car, i.e. we do not produce deadly exhaust fumes. In addition, by using the bicycle, you do not contribute to the so-called greenhouse effect, nor the formation of acid rain or smog, i.e. the accumulation of toxic gases and dust in the air. By pedaling, you limit dangerous climate change on Earth. The bicycle is the most environmentally friendly means of urban transport.
YOU WILL MEET INTERESTING PLACES
We can cycle by bicycle to places where we cannot reach by car. We can get to know interesting places in your area, which we have not been to and about which we had no idea existed. There are no restrictions in front of us, we will take narrow paths to enter the forest or the mountain, we will tour the lake or go along the river.
